Has a boat ramp. Has a beach. Has beautiful walking paths. Has miles of trails across the main entry road. Has miles of horse trails not open yet. Has great camp sites and RV camping as well.

Literally astonished. Besides being a beautiful and we'll maintained park, the people are amazing as well. My family and I came here to flee hurricane irma and were welcomed with open arms. The workers gave us corn hole boards, took the kids for a nature walk/ scavenger hunt and made sure we would be safe during the hurricane. You guys rock.

We just bought our first travel trailer / camper and spent our first weekend out in it at Don Carter. What a great choice! We found and had a nice level secluded campsite. Though we only used them once, the bathrooms were spacious and clean. The trails ranged from paved pathways to rugged trails. The boat ramp is wonderful. The staff was SUPER friendly and helpful. Our only complaint would be that when we arrived, it was apparent someone put out empty tents in the best spots to hold them for others. Later when hiking we noticed each of those sites had rigs that had come in. Doesnt seem very respectful, considerate, or in the spirit of things but I guess this sort of thing is allowed.

Clean areas, well maintained structures, beautiful setting... a great place for camping, picnics, cookouts, or just sitting. Park staff is very helpful and there's a small store in case you need more ice. The playground is small enough to keep your kids under observation, big enough to keep younger children from getting bored. Picnic shelters have water, electricity, grill, trash cans, and picnic tables. Some shelters available for reservation on the parks website. There is a swim/beach area, but with the lake so far down right now it's all beach, no swim...

It has some nice scenery, especially with the lake and beach. The playground is nice but small, and theres a field to play on too. Also, you can rent kayaks here.
